Just after the second world war, in 1945 Alfred Willday, my great Grandad started the family printing company, this all formulated from inside his shed at 331 Tudor Road, Leicester. Alfred was well known for being the first ever person to invent the plate registration form.
This helped to win many contracts with the Leicester Council and other various government bodies. His Son, my Grandad, Raymond Willday joined the firm after serving in the war. He later purchased Unit 1, Duns Lane, Leicester in 1983 to expand the Printing firm. Helping many local companies in the surrounding area of Leicester with their printing needs.
My father, Peter Willday joined the firm in 1985. On which he developed and helped the business grow to a much larger scale, venturing out to other counties and cities causing a need for the firm to expand to Unit 2. Doubling the company capacity.
In 2010 my brother, Tom Willday decided it was time to join the family business and continue the Willday Legacy. Tom is now a multi award winning business entrepreneur, using his creative mind for designing and developing more sustainable products, throughout the printing industry. He recently starred on Dragons Den, gaining investment from Sara Davies.
In 2018, At last, I joined the family business with a different outlook on business and industry. Rather than working directly with Willday Printers, I started my own Wealth Management company. My company has been operating from the same offices as Willday Printers.
Tom and I work together on daily matters, to help improve our companies. We felt it was time to revitalise our offices in Leicester, rather than move to a different location. We both felt this was the right decision due to the heritage that has been passed on from generation to generation.
I am pleased to announce that our new building design and creative space will be ready for 2022. We have dedicated this building to our family history, naming the building “Print Works” for our, next generation.
